giving myself advice about comedy
did you know that you can ask yourself questions? this is a question i have asked myself
dear friends, fans, family, fellow folks,
thank you for being here!
i am grateful to you and for you!
usually i use this space to share short jokes, poems, and other quick funs.
sometimes, i use it to share slightly longer pieces i’ve written, sometimes in response to questions other folks have asked me. this one is about ways to inspire creativity from within and/or without (that’s everywhere-ish!).
i hope you find it some combination of enjoyable and meaningful!

in the past, i’ve facilitated standup comedy workshops for teenagers at an arts summer camp.

one of the things i do in the workshop is offer prompts as jumping off points for thinking about ideas for jokes or observations or stories from their lives or whatever might spring forth.
this particular camper always comes up with lots of ideas when i offer these prompts, and so in response to the desire he expressed to be able to just sit down and write, i asked him basically, what about conceiving of your own prompts? you don't need me to prompt you if you can prompt yourself.
