i am filming a new standup comedy special in NYC on august 22 and i'd love for you to be there! plus 22+ pieces of advice!

dear friends, family, fans, fellow folks, friends, friends, and friends,

i’m grateful that you’re here.
thank you for being here and for being you.
sometimes i share short jokes here. sometimes longer pieces. today, i will share three short jokes about advice AND a question for advice i received PLUS the answer i offered. full disclosure: i once shared this Q&A for paying subscribers only. now, it is for all!

first, here is the ticket link and info about my upcoming standup comedy special taping in NYC on august 22 (two shows: 6:30pm and 8:30pm). i hope you can make it! and/or that you can let everyone you know in or near NYC to make it! the tickets are $10 plus a small fee to eventbrite AND ALSO if cost is an issue and you’d love to be there, we have a guest list. i’d love for the audiences to be full of people who really want to be there! it’s my first hour special taping in over a decade, it’s about my relationship with my girlfriend rini who i love and who created the show with me AND the life that we are living together, so it’s going to be really special (which is why we’re calling it a special). thanks in advance for being there and/or helping spread the word! thank you thank you thank you!

i commend anyone who uses the word “recommend”
to mean “to commend again.”
i also recommend it.

AND NOW, A QUESTION I ONCE RECEIVED ASKING FOR ADVICE:

“what advice would you give a 23 year old new graduate? It can be funny, serious, or anything in between. One word, or one sentence, or a whole list/paragraph. Thanks”

AN ANSWER I OFFERED, AND OFFER NOW, AND WILL OFFER AS FOREVER AS THE INTERNET ALLOWS, IN THE FORM OF THESE 23 PIECES OF ADVICE (WHICH IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF THIS MESSAGE I CALLED “22+” BECAUSE MY SPECIAL TAPING IS ON THE 22ND OF AUGUST AND I DIDN’T WANT TO CONFUSE ANYONE, WHICH I REALIZE NOW MIGHT CONFUSE EVERYONE):

Here is my advice for a 23 year old new graduate. Or probably anyone. Anyone who wants.

1) be kind to others and yourself.
2) know that most people don't have everything figured out.
3) ask questions. (ask questions?)
4) what do you enjoy doing?
5) what are you good at?
6) can you get better at the things you enjoy doing?
7) can you enjoy what you're good at?
8) how can you help?
9) help.
10) know/remember mr. rogers's "look for the helpers" quote.
11) know/remember theodore roosevelt's "the man in the arena" quote.
12) read. for pleasure and growth.
13) create. for pleasure and growth.
14) listen to my podcasts. (if you want.)
15) listen to people who are living in ways that you admire and respect.
16) volunteer.
17) if you have more than you need, give to someone who has less.
18) start meditating. or keep meditating.
19) keep meditating. or stop meditating. (i'm not your meditation boss.)
20) i do recommend meditation a lot though.
21) love. love yourself. love others. tell and show people you love them.
22) don't give anyone advice. or maybe do if they ask for it.
23) be kind to yourself and others.
