laughter, one of the better medicines
jokes and thoughts about almonds and health and cats and more!
dear friends, family, fans, folks,
i’m very grateful that you’re here.
thank you for sharing this chunk of life with me.
and now, for some silly jokes and some sincere thoughts.
A) A is for Almonds:
“i’m a health nut”
— the almond
being a ”health nut” is a weird concept.
i think that calling anyone a “nut” can be potentially stigmatizing, in a mental health-related context, and there’s additional weirdness in stigmatizing a desire to be HEALTHY. can you believe it? someone wants to live a longer, richer, fuller life! isn’t that INSANE? can you even imagine? the only thing weirder would be a MENTAL health nut! can you believe someone wants to care for their inner well-being? isn’t that NUTS? ps i love nuts! nuts are great! so now, when i say i’m a health nut, i mean that i’m delicious and wonderful in a healthy way.
B) B is for the Best medicine:
laughter is the best medicine available and affordable to a lot of people when the health care system allows insurance agencies and pharmaceutical companies to charge more than many can afford to pay for non-laughter medicine.
that's the whole saying, i think.
this one basically speaks for itself!
plenty of comedians have covered the “laughter is the best medicine” platitude in their own unique ways. plenty of non-comedians as well, i imagine! so i’ll just offer this: laughter is great! and it doesn’t have to be a competition! we could just say “laughter is GOOD medicine” or even simply “laughter is medicine” or “laughter is healing” or “laughter is fun, so why don’t you try it and also go to the doctor for a physical every year.” and maybe in addition to going for a physical every year, why not also go to a comedian every however often you want to. like here, now. now take a LOL-ipop on the way out.
C) C is and isn’t for CAT:
"looks like you've got some internal injuries.
also looks like you've got no internal injuries."
-- Schrödinger's CAT scan
i shared this joke online and someone wrote back “we like the nerd humor!”
so i responded “sometimes we nerds just call it ‘humor’!” … boom! boom?
(sometimes Schrödinger's jokes kill and die at the same time.)
those are the funs for today!
one fun comedy show coming your way next weekend:
Sunday, March 12 in Tysons, VA, I’m part of the Ivy League of Comedy
and before we go, here are some questions for you!
i’d love to hear from you if you’d like to respond!
1) how are you? how is your heart? what’s new and good?
2) how are you caring for your mental and physical health these days?
3) do you love cats? or Schrödinger? what animals/scientists DO you love?
4) what’s a question YOU like asking or being asked?
thank you for receiving and sharing!
much love to you and yours and all!
finally, here’s a photo a friend sent me of a license plate that really GETS it!
1) I'm currently very happy, the week started quite horrible to be honest but these past 2 days things have gotten better. I'm 19 now and I'm smiling.
3) Of course I love cats, felines in general. I specially love black panthers, they're my favorite animal. And if we're talking about scientists, I rather like Darwin.
"laughter is the best medicine" maybe you need to examine your pathological need to constantly rank things and declare them superior/inferior. perhaps it's this kind of binary thinking and obsession with western "rational" thought that's led to your underlying health issues in the first place!
