Live from the Universe! (A New Comedy Special Available Today! Plus Jokes and Other Fun!)
Comedy AND Jokes! Together at Last!
dear friends, fans, family, folks, friends again, everyone,
i’m grateful that you’re here, alive in this universe.
thank you for being here in my little art corner of the world.
some fun news for today:
i’m thrilled to share with you that TODAY IS THE DAY!
my new DRY BAR COMEDY SPECIAL exists FOR ALL TO SEE!
it is called LIVE FROM THE UNIVERSE! (all these links go to the same place!)
i’ll share down below how you can see it for free, but first, here are some jokes and thoughts i’ve chosen to share based on exploring my archives by using the search terms “LIVE,” “FROM,” “THE,” and “UNIVERSE.”
(right after i share this beautiful ramin nazer art celebration!)
and now, here we go!
A) LIVE:
you know how they say "may you live in interesting times"?
how about we switch that to "may you live in boring, calm times but with interesting tv shows from time to time"?
so often, we want things to be interesting. but when things are “boring,” that means they’re okay! a few years ago, my girlfriend rini broke her ankle and that was VERY interesting. last year, i tore a calf muscle and was told originally that it was my achilles tendon, and that TOO was very interesting. i’m super glad that our lower extremities are both pretty much back to their normal, boring states. you’ve heard “no news is good news” and that tracks; look at the news! the expression might as well be “yes news is bad news.” are you finding this interesting? if so, look out! if not, perfect.
B) FROM:
i got into comedy
because growing up,
i didn't get enough love
from strangers.
it’s true! my family was (and still is) very loving and supportive, but i didn’t know that many strangers as a child. now i know LOTS of strangers! you might be one of them! of course, the more we get to know someone, the less of a stranger they are. but ALSO, the more we get to know someone, the more weird things we might find out about them, thus the STRANGER they become. it’s weird (or… strange?) that the word “stranger” comes from the idea that people we don’t know are strange, but i truly find that getting to know someone very well really reveals the most beautiful weirdnesses we all contain. like, i know myself pretty well, and there’s some real different stuff in here! point is, thank you for the love, strange friends and friendly strangers!
C) THE:
my instagram feed is now mostly:
— rabbits eating strawberries
— many dogs jumping rope at once
— incongruous animal friendships
— otters hugging everyone
so i think i have finished calibrating the internet perfectly!
this one’s not really a joke, just a fun thing that is true! people bag on the internet a lot, but it really contains a lot of amazing animal videos. i love seeing animals be friends. especially ones that we expect to be enemies. a friend of mine shared with me a website called ZooPal.Club where you can pick from tons and tons of animal pairings and see so many videos of unlikely companionships. rini and i have so far seen cat + dolphin, cat + fox, cat + monkey, and even cat + rat! a cat and a rat! there’s not even a doctor seuss book about that! check it out everyone, as you wish, and report back with your faves!
D) UNIVERSE:
once, i was at a show performing comedy for children and a child offered this joke:
Why did the chicken* cross the universe?
To get to The Same Side!
* The child actually said "cow," not "chicken." I punched it up. You might like cow better. I might also.
now, this one isn’t MY joke, per se. i don’t know whose it is, but if you do, feel free to let me know! i’m just super grateful that this child knew it and shared it. I also love that they said “cow” and not “chicken.” you know? why does the chicken have to do all the roadwork? i mean, i like working the road as a comedian. i guess there’s plenty of room out there for chickens AND cows as well. i’d love to see a movie where a cow and a chicken are both comedians and go out on the road together. of course i would; i love animal friendships!
and now we’ve crossed this universe of jokes! thank you for receiving!
as promised, here’s how you can watch “Live from the Universe” on the Dry Bar Comedy+ app… just click the link and use promo code “MYQKAPLAN” (which is currently only available to use on their website and for a monthly subscription).
if you subscribe to Dry Bar Comedy+ using that promo code, you will receive one month free! full disclosure: it will also benefit ME the longer you stay subscribed, but of course, you are absolutely welcome and encouraged to sign up, get your free month, watch my special and any others you wish, and then make your own decisions moving forward on how to benefit YOU!
and feel free to spread the word (and that promo code)! i’m super happy with the special. it’s got many of my favorite jokes from my 20+ years doing comedy! i hope you enjoy it! thank you so much!
next up, some questions for you:
1) how are you doing? how are you feeling? what’s new and good?
2) do you have any interesting tv shows you’re watching?
3) or any other interesting art that you’re taking in?
4) do you have any favorite incongruous animal friendships to share?
5) how are you doing NOW?
before we go, i also want to let you know that my dear friend liz glazer has a new album out, her debut! she is fantastic and it is fantastic. it’s called “a very particular experience” and i recommend it the most highly! PS the album was just featured in the NY Times!
