maybe wisdom is ALSO bliss, i don't know!
some jokes and thoughts on the subject of knowledge, ignorance, certainty, uncertainty, and who knows what else!
dear friends, family, fans, fellow folks,
i am grateful that you are here. welcome to the time that is now!
and now, here are a few silly thoughts on the subject of not knowing
(i think that’s what they’re about! i don’t know for sure!)
A) A is for A new App idea:
shazam
but for what spices
are flavoring the food you’re enjoying.
what a world of technological wonders we inhabit*, wherein the app “shazam” exists and allows us to hear music out in the wild and near-immediately know what it is, transforming us from ignorant to slightly-less-ignorant instantaneously!
now that the tech wizards have perfected this for SOUND (and i bet they have something like it for SIGHT as well), why not SMELL and TASTE? sometimes i’m eating something and it’s delicious and i can’t find out exactly WHY it’s delicious, and I WANT TO KNOW. shazappetite me, please!
* and that’s ALL that technology does! it ONLY provides wonderful things! it does nothing else! what’s that you say? it does more than that? LALALALALA i can’t hear you, but if you’d like, you can use (only)-wonderful technology to shazam me singing LALALALALA and find out it’s the “i’m not listening” song
B) B is for Being where you are:
a nice thing
about not knowing
where you're going
is that essentially
you can decide
when you've arrived.
a few months ago, my girlfriend rini and i found out that we would have to move out of our home at the end of may, because our building needed a new boiler system and we’re not allowed to live there while there’s no hot water.
we had a few trips booked for the summer, including all of august at the edinburgh fringe fest, so we looked at what it might be like to not immediately move into a new home that we wouldn’t be living in for most of the next few months. we moved most of our belongings into storage and have taken to the road (and sky) for all of june, july, and august!
now, whenever people ask us “where do you live,” we say “here.” wherever we are is our home. some people might say that NOWHERE is our home. i prefer to think of it as EVERYWHERE is our home. your home is our home. PS sorry if we ate everything in your fridge, but it was delicious. WHAT SPICES WERE THOSE?
sincerely, it is sometimes a little unsettling being technically unsettled, and also it is often quite freeing to be free. the definition of “home free” is “having successfully achieved or being within sight of achieving one's objective,” so that’s nice to remember. we have arrived, and/or are about to in every moment!
C) C is for a sCene about Certainty:
"will you go out with me"
"i don't know"
"what do you mean"
"the future is always uncertain"
"oh... do you WANT to go out with me"
"no"
the future IS always uncertain. i think! i don’t know! (a theme here.) which i THINK means that if anything IS certain, it’s the present. the now. the here. the this. i’m grateful to be here in this moment with my fingers typing, my internet transmitting, and all of you receiving. thank you for being here!
and there we have it, from me! now, some questions for YOU:
1) how are you? how is your heart? how are you doing/feeling?
2) do you know what’s going to happen in the future? or what’s happening now?
3) have you always lived in one place? have ever lived on the road?
4) can you help me create shazam but for spices? (i.e. do it all yourself?)
5) how are you doing NOW?
and that’s about it for today! for future todays, here are some upcoming shows!
