dear friends, family, fans, fellow folks,
i’m grateful that you’re here.
thank you for being who you are and spending your time with who i am.
and now, for some jokes and thoughts for today.
(i’m starting to include some commentary in the body of these messages as compared to in the footnotes; thank you for all who weighed in to contributed to this decision! which is to say, each of the following jokes will come with some additional thoughts, which may also contain jokes BUT NO GUARANTEES. )
A) Adult humor:
"i'm a huge cubs fan."
"you mean a bears fan?"
"yes."
how big is the biggest cub?
how small is the smallest adult bear?
does calling ourselves “GROWN-ups” trick us into thinking we’re done growing?
it’s true, at some point we do stop growing in HEIGHT. but what about DEPTH?
regarding the goings-on of growings-in, this is…
a life-and-depth situation.
B) Big fan energy:
i’m a big fan
of mini golf
and a mini fan
of big golf.
has anyone ever considered “medium-sized golf”?
golf too big? mini-golf too small? welcome to goldilocks golf!
golf deluxe! (GOLF-dilocks!)
C) Comedy sometimes equals tragedy plus almost no time at all!:
*a short play*
COMIC: i’m performing in City A!
FAN: when will you come to City B?
COMIC: i was in City B yesterday
FAN: when will you come back?
COMIC: next year probably
FAN: will you post about it?
COMIC: no i never post where i’m performing, starting now
*comedy, a tragedy*
sincerely, i see exchanges like this happen so frequently. it’s always so funny and so sad at once. the truth: if you love a comedian and want them to come to your town, first, look at their schedule! maybe they’re about to! (example: I’M GOING TO BE PERFORMING IN BOSTON ON FEBRUARY 17, 2017!) and if they’re not, feel free to contact a nearby comedy club or local venue that’s had comedy shows before and ask them to bring your favorite comedian. maybe they will! or if you’re almost done with your time machine and want to go the time travel route to see your favorite comedians on your own dimensional schedule, do it!
and that’s all the fun for now! now, for some fun for later!
QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK (a new segment):
1) do you feel like a grownup? all the time? if so, when did that start? if not, what do you think would be make you feel that way?
2) what are you a big fan of? what are you a mini fan of? what are you a medium-sized fan of? (feel free to go as specific as you wish. last night on a show, i asked if anyone had a favorite animal, and someone said “a golden retriever named Nala,” which was much more specific than i had expected, and it delighted me!)
3) where do you live? have you always lived there? what are some of your favorite places you’ve lived? what are some of your favorite things about where you live? or some of your favorite things about places you’ve been, even if you don’t live there?
4) do you have any questions for me? want any advice? want my thoughts on anything i talked about here or didn’t? feel free to respond in the comments below or in an email or just in your mind or wherever you wish!
and finally, speaking of time travel (which we were earlier IN TIME!), thanks to mckinley cox for this beautiful artistic rendering of a silly joke thought i had… thank you mickey and thank you everyone for being here! love to you and yours and all!

Highfalutin is a highfalutin way to say you use big words.
I don't feel like a grownup, but I have to constantly do grownup things. Maybe I'm actually a fantastic child actor.
My favorite animal is my dog Bunny.
I live in Portland, Oregon, but I'm from NY/NJ, and I've also lived in WI and CA. They're all great and horrible in their own ways.
Question for you: any suggestions on how to bring some cheer to an awesome vegan friend who was badly injured in an accident? He was hit by a drunk driver right in front of his house. I'm at a loss of what to say. The world is so random and cruel sometimes 🥺
