dear friends,
thanks for being here!
i’m grateful that you’re here and that you’re you.
and now, for some funs for today, which all happen to be dad-related.
i am the father of these jokes, and i hope you enjoy!
A) A is for An equAtion:
dad bod = father figure
when a man and woman have a child, there has historically been a lot of discussion about the changes that a woman’s body goes through when she becomes a mother, and it only seems fair that today, we can discuss the changes that a man’s body also goes through as he becomes a father. also, i’m glad that no one uses the term “mom bod.”
B) B is for having a Ball on new year’s this year:
ME: did you watch the ball drop?
MY DAD: we watched the inside of our eyelids
additionally, one time asked my dad what time he and my stepmother usually turn in for the night. he told me, “we usually go up to bed around 11, 11:30pm. and we usually go to SLEEP around 9pm.”
C) C is for Comedy:
people dislike dad jokes
but you know who often tells worse jokes than dads do?
kids.
this one is a joke that i wrote when i was more of a kid, really. by which i mean there’s not as much truth to it as jokes i’ve written more recently. the truth is, i think there are plenty of non-dads who tell “bad” jokes AND there are plenty of children who tell GREAT jokes. or rather, children who simply let great jokes flow through them. children are often wonderful natural comedians. i’m glad they don’t all become professional comedians because that would be a lot of competition for me. and actually, THAT is a joke as well. because there’s not a limited amount of comedy that can be done in this life. i would LOVE to see a world where everyone became a comedian. or a doctor. i think we would still need doctors. because while people do say laughter is the best medicine, i’m glad we don’t live in a world where laughter is the ONLY medicine.
and those are the funs for the day!
but wait, there’s more!
actually, here are three more things that you can do TODAY!
1) if you’re in san francisco, you can go see my dear friend zach sherwin perform the crossword show at sf sketchfest. he has the best brain and the best heart and this show is a masterpiece. if you’re NOT in sf, you can check out his videos on youtube, and/or GET TO SAN FRANCISCO REAL FAST! or see the crossword show another time whenever possible. it is beautiful andmagical and hilarious.
2) if you’re in the boston area, you can get tickets for my next boston show which happens two weeks from today, february 17 at democracy brewing. a fun town, a fun venue, a fun show! you’ve got two weeks to get ready. hope you can make it and i’ll see you there! (the show’s in two weeks but you can get tickets TODAY!)
3) if you’re anywhere with internet access, you can check out this new iHeartRadio adventure podcast series that i star in called Intra Quest. the Prologue and Episode 1 are out today! Check out the trailer and listen w/ headphones for 3D-audio. Find Intra Quest wherever you listen to podcasts!
Check out this art for it! And check out the questions below, IF YOU WISH!
Finally, here are some questions for the week:
1) How are you? What is new and good?
2) Have any favorite dad jokes? Mom jokes? Non-specific parent jokes?
3) Or kid jokes? Do you know any children who say funny or meaningful things? This is one of my favorite category of fun life things, when children are naturally funny and/or profound. Please share in the comments or send me a message or just think about it real hard and enjoy.
Thanks and love to you and yours and all!
