Beautiful words, Myq. I really miss my grandmother, who passed two years ago, but all the good memories (like the ones you keep) make me smile, instead of crying, when I remember her.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful story. <3

My dad's adopted dad said to my paternal grandmother right before he died, "I just want you to know I had prostitutes throughout our 47 year marriage." He was dying of bile cancer, big surprise. I had written up the story with great family pictures on my now defunct website with my name. I was angry with Milo after Pearl told me this a year or two before her death in 2006. Last summer a miracle happened. Turns out that Milo had given a son up for adoption 8 months before he married Pearl. This guy finds me and is a stand up guy. He gets Milo's taped interviews and taped musical performance of 3 songs into the Holocaust Museum. Milo had been performing on Viennese stages when Hitler and Gestapo came to town. True story. My folks had done those interviews while I was away at college. I had them but didn't listen. Then I listened right after Ken Burns special this past year on the Holocaust and the US. My grandmother had an amazing rose garden and the most amazing and prolific avocado tree.
