tomorrow, rini and i are embarking upon a journey (more on that below), so today’s dispatch is journey-themed!

1) enjoy the journey:²

"Don't. Stop. Believing. Stop." -- telegram that says "don't believing"³

2) maybe don’t enjoy the journey:

you might think destination weddings are the worst
but imagine if there were JOURNEY weddings.⁴

3) do or don’t enjoy the journey, it’s up to you:

“don’t. stop. be leaving.”

and with that, the journey of this post is almost complete!

tomorrow, the geographical journey begins.

i’m doing comedy shows in w virginia, cincinnati, missouri, minnesota, and chicago, then one in NYC (that will also be live-streamed online!) and then out to pittsburgh and back. we’re excited. are you in any of those places?⁶

2. can’t spell “journey” without “joy.” the journey starts and ends with joy.

3. a telegram is a thing. instagram is a thing. a telescope is a thing. WHERE IS THE INSTASCOPE? (my new app idea for microscopic photos only i guess?). also, i recommend DO believing more than DON’T believing.

4. i originally conceived of a journey wedding as one that takes place along a long trip, but also i suppose you could imagine it as a wedding involving the band Journey, literally or as a theme. whatever suits your boot! (aiming to get that started for fans of the non-nautical, or the non-nautical by nature. when it’s pirate christmas, santa knows who’s been nautical and who’s been nice. okay, there’s a lot going on here. it’s been a real journey! but we’ve finally reached our destination, the closing parenthesis.—>)

5. this works in either direction, from heckler to band or from band to heckler. the advice we yell at others is often the advice we could stand to whisper to ourselves.

6. you’re DEFINITELY in the online place!

7. trying out a new spelling of “tix,” thanks to the folks at gilead chicago who are promoting my show there with the fun new “TIQS” spelling. i said i liked it, and they said it was right there for me. and they’re right. and now here it is for you, for all of us. what a joy. what a journey. right back to where we started. or somewhere else. or both.
