what time do you go to the dentist? september!
plus some quickgold for you. why does quickSILVER get all the press? quickgold sounds even quicker!
dear dear ones,
here are several quicks1 for you today!
1) a guideline:2
i before e, except in the alphabet.3
2) a celebration:4
"it's national limerick day!
already again? man, no way!
these things are the best,
no one can contest!"
-- a thing that most people don't say
3) a weird thing:5
it's weird6 that patio and ratio don't rhyme.
4) finally, a slightly longer (but very worthwhile, i think) quick:
i last went to the dentist in november and realized that it’s been 6 months since then, so i called to make a new appointment earlier this week. here is what happened on the phone with the dentist’s office:
ME: “may i make an appointment please”
A NICE PERSON: “yes we don’t have anything til september though”
ME: “ok but is it possible you may have one earlier due to someone canceling?”
THE NICE PERSON: “you can call on tuesdays or wednesdays to see if we have a cancelation for the next day”
ME: “today is tuesday. do you have any cancelations for tomorrow?”
THE NICE PERSON: “yes.”
i also shared it with some friends. one wrote back “they keep the tomorrow appointments in the back, you just have to ask.”7
and those are the quicks8 for the day!
PS BONUS INFO UNITS, ABOUT UPCOMING SHOWS IN JULY, AND MORE COMING SOON:
1) July 16 at the Gaslight Theater in St. Louis, MO
2) July 22-24 at The Comedy Club of Kansas City
3) July 28-31 at Acme in Minneapolis
PLUS ONE FINAL FUN:
rini, my wonderful girlfriend, has been away for almost two weeks and she returns tomorrow. so i thought it would be fun to share this photo of us being together while also away from one another! please enjoy our joy, as desired and possible! and thank you as always for being here.
“quicks” is an even quicker way of saying “quickies,” and also has the benefit of sounding less squicky!
bonus: “guide” and “line” both have an “i” and an “e” inside (as does “inside”).
of National Limerick Day, which was this week.
or in other words, a thing.
as promised!
that comedian is Andrew Mayer. he is funny and nice!
PS i went to the dentist yesterday, in case the lack of that info was causing anyone to be chomping at the bit. (a final dental joke to hopefully help you smile. or at least open up and say “ah!”)
and/or non-quicks!
